On Saturday, June 21, Teknei had the honor of being the official sponsor of the third edition of the Burdin Hesiko Mendi Lasterketa, a charity mountain race held in Gamiz-Fika (Bizkaia).

Organized by Eperlanda Kultur Elkartea, this sporting event has established itself as a benchmark in the area, combining sporting challenge, historical memory of the Iron Belt, and a deep social commitment.

The event offered three routes: a demanding 37 km race, a 13 km race, and a 13 km walk for the general public. Registration sold out weeks before the event, reflecting the community’s enthusiasm and support for this cause.

Thanks to the efforts of all those who participated and the support of the sponsors, €32,518 were collected, which will go entirely to the Hospital Universitario Cruces – OSI Ezkerraldea Enkarterri Cruces. This contribution will enable the creation of a hospital playground, a space that will make the stay of hospitalized children more cheerful and humane.

The closing ceremony and awards presentation was the perfect ending to a day marked by participation, solidarity, and the spirit of achievement.

What’s more, the date for the next charity challenge has been set! The Burdin Hesiko Mendi Lasterketa 2026 will take place on June 20, with a new charitable goal: to support research into rare childhood diseases and continue to bring hope and new therapies.
