Teknei has once again partnered this year as a sponsor of the 2026 Burdin Hesiko Mendi Lasterketa, an initiative that goes far beyond a mere sporting event and embodies values with which we fully identify: effort, overcoming challenges, teamwork, commitment to the environment, and solidarity.
Held on June 20 in Gamiz-Fika (Bizkaia), the race once again served as a gathering place for athletes, families, and people committed to a social cause of great importance. Organized by the Eperlanda Cultural Association, the Burdin Hesiko Mendi Lasterketa combines sports, nature, culture, historical memory, and accessibility, with a strong focus on solidarity.
In this edition, all proceeds raised have been donated to support research into rare neuropediatric diseases conducted by Biobizkaia, a leading center for health research and innovation. This initiative demonstrates how sports can serve as a tool to make a positive impact on society.
The competition offered three categories tailored to different levels and participant profiles:
- Long Trail: 37 km and 1,750 m of elevation gain.
- Short Trail: 13 km and 500 m of elevation gain.
- Hike: 13 km route with 500 m of elevation gain.
At Teknei, we believe that sports are a powerful tool for promoting healthy habits, fostering positive values, and strengthening ties with the communities where we operate. That is why we continue to support initiatives that combine physical activity, sustainability, inclusion, and social commitment.
We are especially pleased to have contributed, for the second consecutive year, to an event that has established itself as a benchmark in Bizkaia, not only for its sporting and scenic appeal, but also for its ability to rally people and institutions around a charitable cause.
We would like to congratulate the organizers, the volunteers, and all the participants who made this year’s Burdin Hesiko Mendi Lasterketa possible, and thank them for their efforts in continuing to promote an event that demonstrates that sports and solidarity can go hand in hand.
